[AltaVista search did not reveal notes that helped]
I have just reinstalled NT 4.0 server again in order to try to correct a
problem with NT (file) Explorer. To crash explorer I need only:
- find (or create) a shortcut on any disk partition
- right click on it
Up comes Dr. Watson. Explorer goes away, and the screen repaints. I am able to
continue with NT (including firing up explorer as long as I don't right
click). Winfile works fine.
I have experienced the problem with no SPs, with SP1 and with SP2. I have
copied explorer.exe from a system not having these problems with no success.
Does anyone know which dlls might be copied (or anything else to try). Short
of formatting the disk and installing from scratch (which I actually did four
installs ago) I don't know what to do.
Thanks,
Alex
