5564.4 | Try again - single NT system on 2 sep. lans? | EPS::BOEHM | | Mon Feb 03 1997 10:31 | 12 |
| Let me try this again - I want to be able to have an NT system that
can connect to 2 networks. 1 of the networks requires a DNS entry as
I do not know the addresses of all the machines. The other network
does not have a DNS system. However, after installing the network,
configuring TCP for both boards, putting the DNS entry in for
the one network. When checking the properties of either network, the
DNS entry shows up for both...Why?
Is there anyway of having an NT system set up to be able to talk to
two completely independent LANS?

Worked for me. I didn't use DNS for either network. I later switched
to NETBEUI for other reasons.

| I think you are misunderstanding how DNS works or we are misunderstanding
your question. DNS is independent of the Network configuration of the board.
There is a set of IP information for each board in your system. However,
DNS works no matter what those addresses are and is listed under the Tcpip
key in the Registry while the network addresses are under the Tcpip key
of the Instantation of the network device. Once you add information about DNS
to your system, it's there regardless of the network addresses on the boards.
What's the problem that you are trying to solve?
