I wish I could tell you how many AlphaServer sales we have lost due to not
having Winframe on Alpha NT - what's going on with this ? It should be a
no-brainer to get them to port...

>>having Winframe on Alpha NT - what's going on with this ? It should be a

Maybe from your perspective ... I talked with some Citrix folks about
why they hadn't ported their product to Alpha. (Now I am just a grunt
in the field, so my word doesn't carry much. I was just curious.)
They stated that if Digital wanted WinFrame, they would be happy to
work with us to get it ported. They do not do the port themselves.
So, the statement 'to get them to port' most likely doesn't apply in
this case. Therefore, we have to look to see if we, Digital, want
to port their product AND MODIFY NT in order for it to run on Alpha.
Yes, it requires a modified NT kernel. Digital's philosophy in NT
has been off the shelf product for NT.

>>I wish I could tell you how many AlphaServer sales we have lost due to not

That's exactly what needs to be done if you ever expect Digital to
change its mind about things like this. Document exactly how much
Alphaserver business you have lost due to the lack of the product.
That is how things get changed. Just saying that we are losing
business has no weight. It must be documented.

Have a look at NTerprise. Runs on Alpha (though still only on 3.51).
