4205.17 | Finally bought Hamilton C Shell | RICKS::OPP | Thu Feb 13 1997 18:43 | 14 | |
I evaluated 4DOS for NT and the Hamilton C Shell for NT on the Alpha PC systems which I regularly test. 4DOS required FX!32 for translation, whereas the Hamilton C Shell is available in native Alpha code. Since I also test Alpha PC systems running Digital UNIX, the C Shell was my choice. While it certainly does not support the entire breadth of UNIX C Shell commands, it exe- cutes all the basics. As a matter of fact, it allows for the construction of shell scripts that run on both Windows NT V4.0 and Digital UNIX V4.0. Others seeking a more powerful command language for their Alpha-based Windows NT systems would be well advised to evaluate the Hamilton C Shell for themselves. Greg |
