Couldn't get the A195401J.exe drivers off www.pc.digitalcom to work.
The pointer in .6 worked great. Just incase someone is interested:

I found that the A1CGL60A.EXE ESS1888 audio drivers for Windows NT 4.0
have different defaults than the chip actually expects. If I tried to
install the driver with the defaults, I wan't able to do so.

I looked at the SETUP for the sound chip and found the following
    defaults:

    Base I/O 220
    MPU 310 (...I think..)
    Aud DMA 1
    Aud IRQ 5
    Playback DMA 5
    Playback IRQ 11

    Worked for me.

3647.9What is MPU401 & how to use Sound Recorder?TENNIS::KAMAltaVista Software 714/261-4133 DTN 535.4133Fri Mar 14 1997 16:1526
Where did you get that driver? I can't find it on Digital's URL.
What is the MPU 401 do?

I used the driver from the Windows NT 4.0 distribution (2.00.04) and I got the
sound to work, however, I can't use the Sound Recorder to record any sound with
clarity or volume. The built-in sound files work great.

Lastly, anyone know how to turn down the sound when the Modem is dialing? I
can turn off sound (fn F7) but can't turn down the sound. Under Modem |
Properties | Speaker Volume I have the slider OFF and it still SCREAMS at me.
