| I have a FAT system disk (Intel) that was originally a MS-DOS
system onto which Windows NT was installed.
I now want to convert that system disk to NTFS. Obviously
DOS cannot boot after the conversion, which is OK by me since
I never intend to use it. (In fact I'd like to prevent DOS
booting.)
Questions: will the fact that the system disk is set to give
a DOS boot option prevent me from converting it to NTFS?
How in general does one remove the MS-DOS boot option?
Thanks,
Bob

| Re .17:
As far as the last part of your question, you can edit the
(read-only) file BOOT.INI, located in the root directory of
your C: drive, and remove the line in the [Operating Systems]
section which refers to your DOS environment.

| re .17
To convert to NTFS - go to DOS box (yes, this *is* NT!) - try a
"help convert" - this should show you the options, it'll be something
like CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS [/V] - at the next re-boot, the conversion
will take place, and the system will come up with NTFS on the system
disk -
Oh, I'm assuming an Intel box here - not an Alpha BTW.
