Investment In Excellence (IIE) is a workshop that increases your effectiveness
and efficacy - your ability to make positive change - at work, at home, and
in many other aspects of your life. It has been used successfully at
Digital and many other Fortune-500 companies since 1983 to
improve the quality of work life and thereby enhance corporate performance.
Why is Investment In Excellence different than the other "quality,"
"performance-enhancing," "effective communications," or self-esteem workshops?
IIE teaches a genuine understanding of how our minds work: what creates
our self-image, the boundaries beyond which we do not normally venture,
what causes discomfort in new situations or a changing work environment,
what stunts our ability to make plans and carry them out - or get others to
follow.
IIE then goes on to explain ways by which we can break through those
boundaries, stretch our ability to accept - and to create - changes
in our environment, and to set goals and reach them. It sets out mechanisms
by which we can, in Ed Deming's words, "work smarter instead of just working
harder."
IIE is also the ideal workshop for groups facing reorganization and
individuals or groups facing virtually any kind of adversity; it addresses
the issues of personal and organizational self-esteem, how it is built, and
how it can be improved.
Objective: To teach the techniques and mechanisms necessary to increase
personal/organizational quality, performance and self-esteem, to focus
personal/team efforts successfully.
Format: IIE is taught as a series of facilitated video modules with group
discussion preceding and following each video segment. The host
of the videos, Louis Tice, is a world-renowned authority in self-efficacy
and self-esteem training. His style is at the same time entertaining, engaging,
and captivating.
Materials that you will receive: 150-page Application Guide, 3-ring bound,
and series of 4 audio support cassettes.
Cost: $200 for the entire series. $100 deposit required, remainder
payable when course begins. The course is not payable by your cost center,
but may be reimbursible under Policy and Procedures (ORANGEBOOK) Policy 4.13.
Note: Investment In Excellence rates 25.5 hours of Continuing
Education Units. It is the equivalent of a college-level course in
cognitive psychology.
Please send me mail (RANGER::JCAMPBELL) if you would like to attend the
workshop series, as I need to order the materials from The Pacific Institute.
Please come by my office (LKG2-1/Pole X3) if
you'd like to look at the workshop materials or ask me questions about the
workshop. From my own experience, I can assure you that it will be a
best-spent $200.
Thanks for your time

| I did take that course in the mid 80s... I liked it but I found that
it did not change my life or that of my spouse.
The course does have good dosis of common sense and I was familiar
with many of the ideas he had thanks to the way my parents raised me.
It stresses and build self-steem, to value oneself, to believe in self.
That used to be done within the family. It is sad that in these days
families no longer provide much of the self steem that younsters need due
to work and family disfunctions... hence the need for courses like
that, but to be true, the best nurture, self steem, personal value,
comes from parental guidance and love, a book is a distant second best.
The course is certainly good and has been going on for many years.
