I find it works better to be direct (and polite if possible) instead of
just using monosyllables and "hoping" they get the message.
For example, I might say:
Can I get back to you on this ? I have some interesting things
I can tell you about kayaking on the Yukon too, but I need to rush
this job just now.

| How about saying.
"I'm sorry. I haven't got time to talk right now. I've got work to do
and I need to concentrate."
or if you are the more direct sort:
"Please leave. I'm busy. You're preventing me from getting my work
done."
