29.0. "Ethical Question" by CASPRO::LMARINO () Tue Jun 22 1993 11:54
I'm having a problem with a question I am suppost to be debating in an
ethics class of mine. Thought with all the deep thinking and
theorizing that goes on in this note, some could give me some thoughts
to pursue. Mind you I am suppost to be against this issue not for it
which makes it worse! Here's the question:
Under any reasonable definition of "business ethics" businesses must
full, fair and timely disclosure of the current prospetive state of
their business to all stakeholders (shareholders, employees, vendors,
etc.) This responsibility can not be mitigated by the adverse nature of
any such disclosure nor can management abrogate it through failure to
inform themselves. Deniability is not an ethical strategy. It is
inherently unethical for mangement to enrich themselves and hard their
stakeholder through failure to meet this responsibility.
Hard thing is I agree with the statement not disagree. I know that if
I had money invested in a company I would want to know what was going
on, and ethically we all have the right to know. Help! I need some
human relational assistance!
