| I'm unaware of restrictions on adopted brothers and sisters. First cousins
are allowed to marry in some states, the idea behind this restriction
and those regarding biological siblings is to prevent problems due to
inbreeding.

| What if the couple do not wish for children or uncaple of bearing
children?
The civil marriage contract is based on the premise that the couple
will conceive children. Is this applicable today?

| Another reason, is that introducing marital type love/romance
in the family situation can be very disruptive.

not the buisness of the state to regulate this, imho.

| I was unaware that adopted Children (brother and sisters) could not
marry... but it makes sense in a way.
I think the adopted brother/sister bit is just a carry over from the
inbreeding thing. But there is an additional level to it as well.
I dearly love my sisters but would never consider having one of them
for a wife. I think this is a normal relationship between sibblings.
Why would I want someone I grew up with as a wife? AS for first
cousins marrying.... all they have to do is move to a state that allows
it. Or travel there and get married. I forget the federal laws on it,
but in states where it isn't legal, they have to recognize it as legal
if the marriage was preformed in a state where it IS legal. (Unless
they are under age). The only reason I know this is that it came up in
a discussion some years ago between myself and a cousin (no we weren't
contemplating marriage). I said it couldn't be done and she said it
could, then she researched it and showed it to me in a law book.

| Where there are ethics there is no marriage,
when there are no ethics... anything goes...
It is a matter of principles, not state.
