Spurned?
Do you mean the person just did not know how to say "thank you for
the compliment..." or that the person actually adminished you for
sharing your warm thoughts?
Many of us stumble when we are faced with genuine caring accompanied
by actual positive comments. We are too busy defending and arranging
to learn how to accept a compliment gracefully.
Just a thought.

(Ever have one of those days?) Until you put your reply in,
I never even realised I used that word. **Spurned** Opps! So I retract.
That was a simple case of brain working slower than the fingers....
I certainly did not mean spurned.... More like "Borne of"..."Stirred
by"....."Brought forth"....ALL in the most positive ways.
I was attempting to say......" This note was a piece that
wished to convey my gratitude and contentment for knowing you!"
Hows that.??? Sounds kinda choppy to me, but it is the general idea..
So in answer to your reply, No ! there was no negative reason for
writing the base note. Just the simple fact that so many people
pass our lifes, (both in work and personally) and we never say thank
you. We never say, "Hey it was grand working with you and knowing
you.." "It was (And continues to be) great, knowing you are a freind.."

Sorry it has taken me so long to answer...I have been eye-ball
deep in VAXcluster-ese...[what fun-oh joy!]
Well....since you didn't mean spurned...I feel sooo much better
about your base note! Here I was thinking that you were an unhappy
camper when all along you were just singing someone's praises!
I, for one, want to congratulate you on having the grace to do so.
As you said, it is all too often that we let folks drift away without
so much as "Gee, it was neat knowing you...". You must be a pretty
neat person yourself to have the sensitivity to say so about someone.
FWIW...Good work! I hope someone will be so nice when I move on.
