| It isn't just the deposit of semen; it's semen-to-blood or
blood-to-blood contact that's required. The idea is that if blood or
semen from an infected person should come in contact with any cuts or
abrasions that may exist or be caused during intercourse, then the
virus could get into the bloodstream that way.
I believe that for female-to-male transference it would be necessary
for both parties to have some kind of cut or abrasion, whereas for
male-to-female only the woman would have to; that may explain why
female-to-male transference is (said to be) more rare.

p.s. I should point out that we're talking little bitty cuts
here; it is not necessary to have a gaping wound, or even one that's
visible to the naked eye. Admittedly, the more blood one exchanges
the greater the odds of infection, but the possibility exists even
through very tiny wounds.

Don't have sex with anyone you don't know.
Don't do drugs, don't exchange needles.
Use a condom.
Education is the best defense. I am really glad to see this topic
finally come up. This is a good place to ask all AIDS related
questions. No question is too dumb if you don't know the answer,
this note just might save someones life.
