472.0. "Spring Fever" by PLANET::GIRARD () Thu Feb 18 1988 17:38

I got a whiff of it today...

It's in the air. It really does have something to do with the
weather. You may make more babies when it storms, but you really
get in the mood when the weather gets warmer you want to shed the
    woolies.

You get the urge to get more friendly again. The grimace of winter's
painful sting starts to leave your face, and you realize that other
people have smiles just like you.

I really think the weather plays tricks with our hormones. Fools
us and makes us wait until we just can't stand it anymore. But
wait I LIVE IN NEW ENGLAND! THIS IS THE PLACE WHERE I SAW IT SNOW
IN AUGUST A LONG TIME AGO!! I better not get my hopes up too high.
Maybe everybody else didn't get the same whiff...

Sure, I'm a summer person too! Heck, I opened the "sunroof"
when I was driving yesterday; that's a start...I've had it with
    darkness...and cold.

I felt it yesterday too! I've been checking the forsythia, but
it hasn't started to swell yet. Pretty soon those bulbs will start
to sprout and push up through the snow... I just love the spring!

Something does have to be said for the sun streaming through the
sunroof on the morning as welll as the afternoon drive in.

Spring is arriving slowly but surely, first she comes a few days
at a time not overstaying her visit. Soon she comes for about two
months bringing joy and sprouting new life, then she makes a quiet
exit watching the happiness she has spread bloom into summer.

Yes, we all are sick of snow and are enjoying these days, it is
defiately a sign of more good things to come!

Spring seems to be in the air.....Daffodils are sprouting in this
neck of the woods. Can't help but wonder if Mother Nature is yanking
our chain. I caught the fever last week and I'm hoping it's here
    to stay.

It may be warm there now but can "Bay" people possibly appreciate
Spring as much as the Easterners???? I doubt it!

    Enjoy the season!!!

Thanks, but no thanks. The only thing worse than an early case of
spring fever is an early case of spring fever and owning a car that I
swore would not be on the road during the winter months.

    Should'a bought 8 Hyundais,

Re: 472.7

Of course people in the San Francisco Bay Area (Bay people!?) feel Spring
Fever!

I lived in Massachusetts until I was 18. I was and still am PARTICULARLY
susceptable to Spring Fever. And I get it MUCH WORSE here in the valley!
The weather here is not sunny and warm year round - it rains every now and
then during December and January, and there is considerable morning fog
(which makes for a chill and a simply stunning view of the Golden Gate
Bridge) during the winter as well.

The scenery in this area contributes a lot to the heightened sense of
Spring Fever. Except for the autumn, New England is kind of blah by
comparison (my ARGUABLE opinion only, please no flames).

Speaking of suffering from TANorexia . . . Sunday, even though it
was windy and cold outside, I sent the thermostat up to 70 degrees,
and cuddled up on the sofa awash in sunlight (A-frame style house).

That'll sure chase the chills away! I wonder if I got any color?

The tulips in my yard are up about 2" shouldent be very long now
except the the three days in march when it always seems to snow
here. ALWAYS just when you dont expect it and are really getting
in to spring I.E. the top to the jeep is 100 miles away in the garage.

472.16Spring Feaver Still Lives OnAIMHI::RAUHTue Mar 08 1988 12:0720
A spring poem from WRKO in New York from the 60's and the days when
it was cool to listen to AM, (vs FM). A sales pitch for Venis Fly
Traps. How many of you owned one then??

Spring is here and my man eating plants are in bloom,
The vines are growing all over the deck,
and they are eating good guys by the bushel and peck,
There goes an arm, there goes a head,
Hey!! Let Go!! Let Go Plant!!!

I had an 8 transistor radio then, I remember the coming of spring
when I would walk through the neighborhoods and smell the fresh
cut grass for the first time... Wow, that was heaven, and the radio
was in my shirt pocket and I had an ear plug stuck in my ear listening
to the world and its chatter. I remember when I heard 'Cast your
Fate to the Wind' for the first time on that little box. I still
remember those nights like it was last night.

Of all the seasons I would choose Spring as the best. Being a
New Englander all my life spoils me with the love for all seasons,
however Spring can literally pick you up out of your seat and move
you. I would praise the sun if it were a god, it fills me with
energy and brings a smile to my face. Relating back to the original
note, I know what the initiator is saying, your emotions change,
you long to be with someone and share the outdoors. Feelings stronger
than you take over, memories of good times fill your head, each
whiff of Spring has a distinct odor that reminds you of fond childhood
memories. Others look happier, even if they are not. Everyone
seems to have a nicer disposition. If this is Spring Fever then
    I have surely been infected.
