| Yes, but with qualifications. It makes a nice goal to strive for, but
if I could wish it into existence this minute, I wouldn't do it.
It's often occurred to me that (most) humans would have to be radically
modified to be able to tolerate a state like that for very long. No
striving? No tests? No challenges? No risk? We were created for (or
evolved for, or both) the struggle to survive, and unless some serious
bit-tweaking is done, few of us, in my opinion, would be content in
Utopia.
Or maybe it's just a matter of "One person's heaven is another person's
hell..."
Anyway, it isn't likely that we'll have to deal with the reality
of Utopia any time soon, is it? So we can strive towards it all
we want.

| Much of the idealism in the base note is laudable and desirable,
but I wouldn't by the whole package as "perfection".
Children laugh, are safe, have fun, play...
Laugh, fun, play--yup, all children should be these things.
Safe is another thing. The world even without human failings
is not a safe place. Children need to understand danger and
know how to cope with it. They should, however, be sufficiently
protected to be able to learn, to grow, and to survive.
Peace is everywhere in the world...
Crime is unknown, no such word...
Prisons are obsolete...
Good things to strive for. Probably impossible, but the closer
we can get the better.
Violence is unknown, no such word...
Weapons do not exist...
Much the same as war and crime above, except that violence
may be met in non-human nature and may be required when dealing
with non-human nature.
Disease is unknown, no such word...
Again, I doubt that this is possible. I'm also not at all
convinced that immortality is desirable.
Sex is safe and natural...
Being a believer in monogomy, my views on the attainability
of this are much more optimisitic than on any of the above.
With just a bit of care it can come very close today.
Love is abundant, all are welcome...
Again, I see no reason why this isn't attainable in the
moderately short term. All we have to do is live with love
in our hearts.
Hospitality goes without question...
Locks are obsolete...
I grew up in a house that had never had locks in the 200 years
it stood. My mother used to count noses and add two to get the
number of people to cook Friday dinner for. It was usually twice
the size of the household. Again I think this is attainable in
the moderate term.
Charm is everyone's nature...
Everyone? not likely, but along with love and hospitality,
it really is possible anytime we feel like it.
War is unknown, no such word...
See peace, crime et al above.
Polution is a thing of the past...
Water is pure and clean...
It was a thing of the future in the past. We ought to be able to
make it a thing of the past in the future. A major step is
understanding the big picture.
Air is pure and clean, oxygen content high...
I hope the oxygen content doesn't go up significantly. I was
bred for the current levels as were the flamable flora.
Food, fat... unnecessary...
"Food unnecessary"?! As both a gormet and a gormand, I dearly
hope not. And please don't take my fat away. It is an important
ingredient!
The sky is so beautiful, a sliver moon and bright stars on a cool clear night...
I loved when I was growing up, and love 'em still.
Green, life, nature, bountiful harvest, spaceship Earth, Earthlings unite...
In many ways things are greener and more bountiful than they've
ever been. The spaceship earth is there whether we accept it or
not. We need to do a better job of balancing and to fix the
ways in which things are much less green and bountiful.
Prejudice, ignorance, hatred... unknown, no such words...
Nice idea. Probably in the unattainable category, though
Race, an old world competition, some strange idea about skin color...
Be careful here. Cultural heritage and even racial heritage can
be a very rich treasure if we don't abuse it. Cultural and
genetic diversity are both very pleasant and very important to
long term survival. Subjuation and bias are bad things though.
