    Be it resolved that it be heretofore enacted (if only in my dreams): 
    
    All employees, be they exempt or non-exempt, hired or contracted,
    are required by official policy to, at the hour of one p.m. each
    work day, dim the lights, forward the phone to the answering machine,
    silence the terminal, remove the bundle from under the desk, unroll
    the rest mat, and nap for not less than 30 minutes, with an additional
    requirement of 30 minutes for Mondays and Fridays (see special case
    below).
    
    In understanding the highly pressured nature of leading edge
    technology, plant managers are hereto empowered to enact supplementary
    naptimes as needed by the employees, and as governed by the quarterly
    cycles and the stresses they represent.  An enactment committee
    will be formed to study how best to ensure that employee and manager
    alike implement the new requirements as soon as possible.
    
    Also, be it known that Friday naptimes will find restful tales being
    told in conference rooms, and restful music being broadcast plantwide.
    A schedule of stories and musical works will be maintained, and a
    committee will be formed to research and study appropriate literature
    and music for this purpose.  Rest mats will be made available for
    employee purchase through the company store.

    You've got my vote!  When I found out I was pregnant recently, my
    doctor recommended an afternoon nap everyday (I have a wonderful
    case of chronic fatigue).  I would gladly give up an hour's pay
    for a real rest time in the middle of the day.

    If you have a doctor's recommendation you could probably go up
    to health services and take a nap.  Of course you would have to
    make up the time by working through lunch or by staying later,
    but it might be worth it!

    I don't have a desk in my office that I'd fit under, and besides,
    the disk heads on my MicroVAX would keep me awake.
    
    Of course, I've recently realized I'm a workaholic.  I eat lunch at my
    desk, and exhibit most of the other classic symptoms, too.  I'm
    porbably rationalizing.
