    	Like Michael from Note 306, I and my S.O. will be getting married
    for the first time.  We're planning a wedding for next summer ('88)
    and we'd like it to be a good time.  We're both older (33+) and
    are interested in having a wedding that is fun, meaningful but not
    so corny and predictable.  We're open to suggestions and would like
    some ideas on the wedding ceremony and the reception.
    
    	Neither of us belongs to a particular church although I
    occasionally go to the Unitarian Church.  Both my S.O. and I are
    ex-Catholics.  As a result of going to 12 years of Catholic school,
    he's become an agnostic.  I'm more of a believer but my beliefs
    don't fall into any one religion.  I'd like to have something more
    spiritual than a civil ceremony and would be open to anyone's ideas
    on how and where to have the wedding ceremony.
    
    	Now for the Reception:  We're having approximately 120 people.
    Both mine and my S.O.'s immediate families and relatives are from
    out of state (his from Washington State, mine from NYC). so approx.
    60% of the wedding guests will be from out-of-town.  We don't want
    to hold the reception too far from Boston/128 area because the
    out-of-towners will either be flying in or driving up.  Any suggestions
    on places for the reception and where to house all these people
    would be greatly appreciated.
    
    	P.S.  My "dream" wedding is to have one outdoors but our backyard
    is way too small.  So any suggestions on outdoor sites for the wedding
    ceremony and reception would be real helpful.

	There is a beautiful place called The Cathedral of the Pines that would be perfect for an out door wedding! I don't know exactly where it is, but it faces Mount Monadnock (sp?). I've been there once, it's beautiful and certainly a perfect place for a wedding! I have no idea where to direct you for more information, perhaps someone else out there may know! It's somewhere near Ashby, MA. Congratulations, and good luck! jp

	You might look into the Holliston Historical Society on Rte. 16 in Holliston. Pretty easy to get to from 495, and 495 is easy from the Pike. It is a really nice Federal architechture house, with a barn next to it and a big front lawn surrounded by trees. Su and I are going to set up a tent on the front and have both the house and tent to play with. We are renting the tent from Paryt Time in Northbridge,MA (I think that's where Party time is; I'll look it up if need be.) It's cheap, too. The whole deal (tent and all) is costing us something like 900 bucks. Good luck. MM

	The Cathedral of the Pines is very near where we live - if anyone if interested in directions I can probalby get them for us.... Also there is a very good, long note in Womansnotes titled "Ideas for a Nonsexist Wedding" that has lots of interesting ideas for non traditional weddings Bonnie

	RE: .0 If your a UU like I am, you might be interested in knowing that Jack Mendelsohn, who is our minister, does weddings. We be- long to the Bedford (Mass.) Unitarian-Universalist Church on the Common (Rt 4-225 in Bedford). Our church's sanctuary was just re- cently remodeled, and it is really pretty...very old New England- ish. My ceremony was at 11am - with the morning light streaming through the large window-panes.... Linda

	Another alternative is to have it at a place that has an indoor garden - like the Boxboro Sheraten. That way you can have the service in an outdoorsy place without a worry about the weather. I am doing that at the West Springfield Sheraten next March, where they have a similar setup.
