    To laugh is to risk appearing the fool
    To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
    To reach out for another is to risk involvement
    To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self
    To place your ideas, your dreams before a crowd is to
       risk their loss
    To love is to risk not being loved in return
    To live is to risk dying
    To hope is to risk despair
    To try is to risk failure
    But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in
       life is to risk nothing
    
    The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing,
       is nothing
    They may avoid suffering and sorrow but they cannot learn,
       feel, change, grow, love, live
    Chained by their certitudes they are a slave, they have
       forfeited their freedom
    Only a person who risks is free

    Somebody in my office who goes by the unofficial nickname
    of "HUGME" has just given me this, and I felt it was worth
    sharing with everyone out there.

    	It's natural to feel the way you do Steve.. No one likes to
    be hurt. But remember, you take risks in everything you do nowadays.
    In new friendships and in old friendships there is always a measure
    of risk. That's life. To learn to roll with the punches and keep
    a good outlook on things will help you weather the hurt. Ya, I know..
    Easier said than done. But we've all been thru it. Each and every
    one of us and we're still here.
