The conflict was unintentional; I didn't have a clue that the h-r
party was the 18th. The party that Heather and I are organizing is in
honor of a certain Snake, who will be visiting here then.
Perhaps some of those who go to the h-r party, after an hour or so of
jejeune intercourse, will choose to drop over to Nashua for some down
& dirty good times.

| The HUMAN_RELATIONS party has been in the works for over a month.
At present, the list of people who say they will come stands at
51 - nobody has been turned away.
It is unfortunate if people feel they have to make a choice between
the H_R party and another, but it is certainly possible to attend
both (even though they're far apart). I certainly DO hope that
those on the H_R list who aren't coming will tell me ASAP, because
the only thing worse than having too many people show is to
have too few, and to get stuck with a lot of extra supplies.
I can say one thing - if on the 18th, there is an unexpectedly poor turnout
at Al Flood's house, that will be the first and LAST H_R party I
organize.

| I'm sorry Steve had to reply. First, he and Al organize
a party, second, extend the limits to literally accomodate
all and then is put in the middle of some feeble popularity
contest.
My belief is that my fellow workers are not this callous,
but rather it is a series of actions, generally done in
ignorance which have had a displeasing effect.
> it is certainly possible to attend both (even though they're far apart).
While Steve is once again being accomodating, I would hope
we would not be that rude, and if drinking, that careless.
> I can say one thing - if on the 18th, there is an unexpectedly poor turnout
> at Al Flood's house...
If I go and meet Steve, and Tamzen my evening will be a success.
If Davo shows up, then it will be a bash and if the other two
identities come along it will indeed rival the Dyonisian festivals
of ancient greece! :^)

set flame = meltdown
The HR party was discussed in a prior note and I offered to have
that party at my place as an opportunity for the "HR NOTERS" to
have the chance to meet each other in person. As the list of attendees
has grown, I felt it necesary to ask Steve(organizer/comoderator)
to limit the numbers. If we pack too many in the house, the comfort
level will go down. In the past I have hosted many parties at my
place for DEC co workers. In one instance I left the invite list
open -net result was some pretty abusive physical activities to
the house - someone even managed to take a pair of wire cutters
from my workbench and cut the cables to my cable box and then take
the cable box home with them(cost me 175 $ to replace IT). If I
wanted to have a wide open party, then I would have had it in the
summer months and advertised it as an open party in notes.
There has been plenty of time for HR noters to rsvp and it seems
to me that at least some of the upset noters are very infrequent
HR noters. I would prefer to meet with those people who I am frequently
reading notes from then to have a wide open animal house. I do have
some things that I value in my house and wish to keep it that way.
flame = simmer
Most of my friends who have come to parties at my place have had
a good time because I have a number of things in the house that
people can do besides getting totally buzzed/drunk. Likewise friends
are always asking me when I can have another party.
flame = off
I hope that those 51 on the list are able to come, I don't think
you will regret it. For those of you who want to come, please let
Steve know - if the number doesn't get a lot higher, I will ask
him to invite those people as well. But please stop dumping on him
as he is only trying to work within the guidelines that I gave him.
IN the near future, I will be moving into my Landlord's home as
DEC is sending him and his family overseas for 2-3 years. If this
party is successful, I would be quite willing to have another party
in the future for HR noters and be able to have a larger attendance
(since the new house is larger).

90.9 | Either there or the South Pacific! | NANOOK::SCOTT | Looking towards the sun | Wed Oct 08 1986 20:56 | 14 |
| Even though I'm always looking for that sun in the South Pacific,
I'll be there. I had to miss the party at chopsticks but that
was on a friday night and we were trying to solve customer problems.
The H_R get together is on a Sat and the only way I'ld miss it
is if I find the sun, and myself in the South Pacific that day.
This get together should be the more important and I, for one,
can't see leaving a better party of one of unknown quality. I
could care less about quantity.
Always following the sun,
Lee

had a second party going planned that day at Ed Bernstein's in Nashua, and
I wasn't bitchin'....
I'm looking forward to meeting people I've NOTEced recently, and maybe MAILed
a couple of times...
There are people I've met in the flesh for a couple of moments at past
gatherings, but didn't get a chance to talk/* with them as much as I'd like...
Then there are the few who I've kNETwn since I started at DEC a year or so ago
who I've been trying to meet, who have been dodging me!!! You know who you
are!!
I hope you're all there... to meet/talk/sing/dance/play games/play music/play/
