Hi, I've been helping a customer set up DOSD (dump off system disk) on his cluster of 2 x 6610 and 2 x 7720's. It works fine on the 6000's but on both the 7000's we get this error during startup - SYSBOOT-F-DOSD dump off system disk home block read I/O failed SYSBOOT-E-I/O error reading file P[Of[X^H It seems there is a problem only on 7000's. Has anyone else heard of DOSD being a problem on 7000's ? Regards Royston UK CSC

Royston, No answers yet, only questions ... What version of OpenVMS are we talking about here ? Has the customer installed VAXDOSD06_062 ? What version of the console firmware is installed on the VAX 7000s ? /Ian | |||||

Apologies. First things first (I should know that by now!). OpenVMS 6.2, console firmware 4.3, VAXDOSD06_062 is installed. They have set DUMPSTYLE parameter to 005F8004, which means DOSD device is unit number 5f(hex) = 95. The DOSD disk is on the same controller as the system disk The DOSD device is connected via HSJ (CI) The DOSD directory structure resembles the current system disk structure The volume label contains the sub-string DOSD_DUMP The dump device is NOT part of a volume set Thanks Royston |
