459.0. "May 2, 1994 Town Election" by 7361::RUZICH (Realtime Software Engineering) Tue Mar 15 1994 11:19

Here's the score card for the Monday, May 2 town election:

	Moderator:		Dick Gerroir (incumbent)

	Library Trustee:	Phil Bohunicky (incumbent)
				Anne Lesniak-Betley

	Selectman (2 seats):	Frank Ignachuck (incumbent)
				Dick Downey (incumbent)
				John Barilone
				Timothy Lawton

	School Comm. (2 seats):	Betsy Griffin (incumbent)
				Cindy Ruzich (incumbent)

	Housing Authority:	John Arnold
				Eulas Cole

All open positions have a three year term, except the moderator, which is
one year. On the Housing Authority, I didn't mark an incumbent, because I
don't know the people.

It's been several years since there was a contested election for the Board
of Library Trustees, where longtime incumbent Phil Bohunicky is challenged
by Anne Lesniak-Betley. I believe Ms. Lesniak-Betley is active in the
Friends of the Library.

The selectmen's race is particularly interesting, with two seats open and
four people running. John Barilone was on the old DPW board, before the
new charter deleted the board, and moved the responsibilities to the Board
of Selectmen.

The School Committee has only uncontested seats, which hasn't happened
since 1989.

459.1Candidate's Forum Tuesday, April 26th7361::RUZICHRealtime Software EngineeringMon Apr 04 1994 12:098
    The League of Women Voters have scheduled a candidate's forum on
    Tuesday, April 26th from 7 to 9 PM at Maynard High School.

    In past years, the League handled all the questions. This year, they
    will take questions from the audience, so the discussion may be more
    lively.

    Nope...they printed all those signs you see stuck in yards

    Then Dow Chemical (I believe they make Saran Wrap) must have also made
    a killing, because alot of the signs were covered in plastic.

    Congratulations to Maynard for having a real election with more than
    one candidate for each position.

    I think every candidate in Acton's most recent election ran unopposed.
