  Someone said in the Mill_memories conference that (rumor) the Maynard Motel
will be torn down and replaced by a Wendy's. True? Is the Maynard Motel
closed? Is it too far gone to be remodeled into a good motel? It seems like
this would be a good place for a good motel; there are no other motels within
5 miles and Digital's Maynard plants draw lots of business travelers.

	I'm not a long-time Maynard resident but I have been here over 10 years. I'm having a hard time remembering when the Motel was open! If it is such a prime spot for a motel, then you would think someone could keep it open, no? - dave

	The motel was open in June 1983 ... wedding guests stayed there.

	I have been inside the motel recently (Last winter) when a water pipe broke (went in with a friend). The sheets are still on the beds! It smell musty, but that can be cleaned. All the damage that was done by the broken water pipe was repaired by the bank (who owns it) I'm not exactly sure.. but I don't think the Motel closed due to not having enough business, it was due to not paying his taxes!

	I know the motel was still opened in 1985 becasue guest who attended my wedding stayed there. I am not sure when it closed. Liz

	Well, by the end of the day today, the Maynard Motel will be history. Yesterday a crew showed up and a big shovel dozer began chewing on the side of the building and now there is only one part of the office and the right end still standing. I don't know for sure, but from what I've seen in other towns, Wendy's should be up and running by the end of September. Frank

	In case anyone is interested, Wendy's grand opening day was yesterday -- September 1. The place was all packed! They even hired a police to direct the traffic.
