Does anyone know about the Foley and son's (sic) store in Maynard? Specifically, has anyone heard about their ceramic tile installation? They will be coming over my place in a couple of weeks to give me an estimate. I am looking for referrals... Feel free to send mail if you are not comfortable writing your response in this conference. I believe that all non-complimentary responses, if any, should be done through mail. Thanks, Amy I am not sure where CIMNET is... my address is lmopst::pinck::green <<< MCC1::$1$DIA2:[NOTES$LIBRARY]MAYNARD.NOTE;4 >>> -< MAYNARD >- ================================================================================ Note 444.0 Foley and Son's No replies CIMNET::PINCK::GREEN "Long Live the Duck!!!" 14 lines 5-OCT-1993 20:28 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I got a rough estimate from them for my bathroom of about $600. I got someone from Westford for $245. His name is George Petersen. I don't have his number but I'm sure he's in the directory. His work was excellent and I'd recommend him to anyone. Karen

Foley's estimate for my bathroom is ~$4,000 more expensive than another local contractor I finally used (Brooks Harrington). The labor cost alone is significantly higher, and the materials from their store is much higher than other local hardware stores. For example he quoted me around $1,000 for a Corian countertop sink that is going for about $300 at another store. So compare prices before you decide, especially for the materials. Foley carries many brand name items that are hard to get anywhere else, though. The good thing about Foley is they coordinate everything from carpentry, plumbing, tiling, and flooring. If you value your time and don't want to be hassled by the task of coordinating this, Foley might be a good idea. For my bathroom I used Brooks for the carpentry (and he has a contract plumber), and Tom TA Tile for the tiling. I have been very pleased with their quality of work and their professionalism. Tom is also a local tile person. It takes many phone calls to synchronize the schedule, though. -santa

I had John Barilone from Maynard do ceramic tile in our kitchen. Foly couldn't come close to the price that John did it for. Quality was excellent and he was very acomodating (sp?). John put the subflooring in too. I found Foly to be very expensive on parts AND labor. Bob |
