The obvious question is: how did the Tigers do in their first two games?
The answer: zero for two; let's call this a "rebuilding" year. Many of
the outstanding players graduated, leaving only 7 seniors on this
year's roster. Still, there was some very good play in the Marion
game, and the Maynard fans were quite enthusiastic. (I didn't catch
the Clinton game.)

Clinton jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter, then
Maynard scored to make it 14-6. The score remained the same until
Clinton scored twice in the 4th quarter, I think it was, and won
the game 28-6.
You're right about the rebuilding year, Steve. To think that just
two years ago, Maynard was a two point conversion away from going to
the Super Bowl. But that's what makes high school sports what they
are.
