| I believe the store is part of a small chain. There is another in
Framingham.
When they first opened, I went down to look into those cleaning kits
for Nintendo games. The owner told me they were a gimmick and waste of
money. Instead he gave me a couple of brushes, free of charge. In
return he just asked that I rent a movie sometime. Granted, they
weren't expensive items but that's a good way to do business IMO.
We've rented quite a few movies from them since then.

406.2 | Video stores | AKOCOA::LESAGE | | Tue Nov 10 1992 14:09 | 7 |
| I went to the new video store when it opened to inquire about prices
and their rental policy. To become a member you are required to
leave a deposit, either a check made out to the store or a credit
card for $75.00. Since I already belong to Video Signals in Stow and
the Movie House on Nason St. which have free membership I did not
become a member of this new store. I think they will have to change
this policy if they are going to compete with the other video stores.

I was in there looking around the other day. I was told that there was
no membership charge if you used a credit card, and a one time fee of
what I thought he said was $3 if you didn't. I wasn't listening real
close since it was just mild curiousity that had me there in the first
place.

| Actually, .3 doesn't conflict with .2. .2 mentions what amounts to a
security collatoral, which isn't really a membership fee. You fill out
a check or a credit card slip for $75 and they just hold onto it (don't
cash it) and only use it if you default on a rental.
I don't remember but I don't think I had to do that at the Movie House.
This will surely sink that ship before it gets going. They're going to
turn away alot of potential customers with that policy and they won't
return even if they do change it.

406.5 | I like this video store | VERGA::CARTER | The 3 R's - Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle | Tue Nov 10 1992 16:59 | 15 |
| I went down and joined this video store, called Premiere Video. I
didn't want to use a credit card so I paid the $3 and joined. I have
rented my recent movies from them and I am happy with the place. They
seem to have more of the recent movies available, and like the other
places, they will reserve them for you if you call ahead. Also, the
cost for a new movie rental is less than the Movie House (not by much)
and the video store in Stow. They also seem to have slightly longer
hours than the others as well. And though they don't have the free
rental with every ten rentals that the others have, I was told that
each week there is a coupon for a 2-for-1 rental in the local paper.
Finally, the people who work there are very friendly and helpful. In
my humble opinion, it's worth the $3 membership fee.
