| Maynard High beat Uxbridge last Sunday, 10-2. It was a cold WET
horrible day but the game had started and the umps knew how importatn
the results were to both teams - the end of the season for one of them.
The next game was scheduled for today at Foley Stadium in Worcester
but most of the other games scheduled for yesterday and Sunday were
postponed, to be held today. Plans now are for Maynard to play
in Worcester tomorrow. If I hear more specifics I'll post them here.
The team was incredible. Jason Campbell went into the 9th inning,
with 2 outs before his hopes for a no-hitter were dashed. considering
how horrible the weather was it was a truly amazing feat, no wonder
he was chosen the MVP of the Mid-Wach League!
I asked some of the team what they thought was the best part of the
game - thinking of the best hit, play etc... after much thinking the
response was
I LOVED playing in front of ALL THOSE FANS!!!!!!!
Keep the spirit going, Fans, the team appreciates it!

| It was a hard fought game, Maynard sure tried hard, but so didn't
Grafton. Going into the 9th the score was 3-2 Grafton, but then
they got another 3 runs and Maynard couldn't score in the bottom
of the 9th. End result was 6-2.
Maynard sure had a great season though, certainly one of the best
in many many years..... and as we always say about the Red Sox...
wait 'til NEXT year!

This year alone, Maynard's Football, Girls Soccer and Boys
Baseball won their league titles.
Not sure about this but I think the Girl's soccer team has
won the league title 3 or 4 times in the last 4 years.
Two years ago, they were undefeated league champs and 4 years
ago played for the State Title!

| I know, i know, we got 6 inches of snow today, do you think
baseball will EVER get here???????? In the spirit of wishful thinking
here's the Maynard High Varsity Baseball Schedule for Spring 1993.
Any guesses on when the first real actual game will happen?
Ever the optimist I choose 28 April in Lunenburg as the first game...
the snow and wet fields will be too bad before then... tell me I'm wrong!!
Please, please, say it ain't so!

| Re: .7
I'll take a wild guess and say the 20th. That's being optimistic
though. You figure it'll be at least 2 weeks before they can practice
outdoors (on a field), then another 2 weeks or so of good solid batting
and fielding practice. I would think they're already playing some long
toss on the high school driveway now to get their arms in shape, along
with some running, etc.
