| Hi Keith,
I believe you can call the Health department to get more information.
Briefly, Maynard recycles white paper, newspaper (bagged or tied with
string), plastic milk jugs, aluminum, glass, #2 plastic, and sometimes
other kinds of plastic. You can go 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month
to the DPW yard off 117 between the Route 62 turnoff and the intersection
with Route 27.
Hope this helps,
Liz
P.S. Are you the person who used to work in the AI group?

|
We also recycle 'tin' cans - you know, tuna, soup, etc.
The plastics are any #1 or 2 plastics (number found in that triangle
of arrows).

| There's a bit of inconsistency in the plastics. Sometimes they feel like
recycling all 1s and 2s and sometimes they "don't have time", so they only
collect certain types of 1s and 2s (it seems arbitrary to me, but then
again, I don't understand the ins and outs of plastics).
They also take returnable cans and bottles -- proceeds go to the group
that's staffing the recycling center that week.

| The town of Sudbury has a recycling center at the town landfill, which
is located at the corner of Sudbury diagonally opposite from the corner
tha borders Maynard. (It's at the Sudbury-Wayland town line, on route 20.
The recycling center accepts ALL numbered plastics (1-7), newspaper (with
magazines okay), tin cans and random scrap metal, automotive oil, automotive
batteries, glass containers (green, brown, and clear), and plain corrugated
cardboard.
You need not have a Sudbury landfill sticker to use the recycling center.

| Tom,
Thanks for the information on the Sudbury Recycling center. Would you by any
chance know their hours of operation, or know a number I can call to get this
information? I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Keith

| Anyone know where I can recyle tires? I bought a new set a BJs and the
station that put them on for me won't dispose of them, so now I got
4 rather used tires.

| The Maynard Recycling Center is open on the first and third Saturday
of each month. In addition to the members of the Board of Health and
other dedicated volunteers, a non-profit organization in Maynard is
assigned a weekend or two during the year to assist in recycling. In
exchange for their assistance, the proceeds of the deposits of bottles
and cans are redeemed by that organization for their use.
This Saturday, February 15th, the Maynard Community Chest will be
working at the Maynard Recycling Center. Proceeds from the bottle
and can contributions will help support the following causes:
- American Red Cross - Boy Scouts
- Agape Center - Concord-Assabet Adolescent Services
- Concord Family Service - Eliot Community Mental Health Center
- Emerson Hospital - Girl Scouts
- Community Supper - Maynard Senior Citizens
- CODE - Minuteman Assoc. of Retarded Citizens
- The Community School - The Stow Food Pantry
- United Services Org. - Will Dodd Community Center
The above services are available to everybody in Maynard, and 98% of
all funds received are spent in support of these social services.
The Recycling Center is open from 9:00 to noon at the Highway
Department Garage at the end of Winter Street (off Great Road a block
east of Maynard Mobil/St. Casimir's Church).
Please take the opportunity to empty out your garage and cellar and
help a very worthy cause.
