301.1Future age groupings begin this fall25207::METSCHFri May 31 1991 15:1321
    The U.S. Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) has changed the date of birth
    requirements that determine the level a child plays in. The new
    groupings will be as follows:

    Under 14	born 8/1/77 to 7/31/79*
    Under 12	born 8/1/79 to 7/31/81
    Under 10	born 8/1/81 to 7/31/83
    Under  8	born 8/1/83 to 7/31/85
    Under  6	born 8/1/85 to 7/31/87**

    * The Assabet Youth Soccer League's ruling (of which Maynard is a
      member) is that children who are in the 8th grade in the fall and
      were born before 8/1/77 are eligible to play in the U14 division.

    **The U6 (kindergarten program) is internal to Maynard. Therefore,
      the only requirement is that the child is in kindergarten as of this
      fall. There is no age distinction. Children who fall into the U6
      date of birth limit who may not be in kindergarten will be placed in
      the U8 level.

301.2Late Registrations39118::IGNACHUCKNative MaynardianSat Jun 08 1991 23:546
    Jim, as is always the case, I know of a number of kids who forgot
    to register last week.

    What is the best method for them to get in touch with you?

301.3Late sign-upsVAXRT::METSCHTue Jun 11 1991 18:3812
I have a few applications on my porch (5 Elmwood St.) for those who have
not signed up yet for the fall season. To avoid a late registration
charge and ensure a place on a team, people should fill out an application
and leave it on my porch. Registration for the fall season is $25 for the
first child, $20 for the second, and $10 each after that. Make checks
out to the Maynard Soccer Boosters. We do provide scholarships too.
Though it is not necessary to pay the registration fee until the start
of the season it is one less thing the coach has to do at the beginning
of the season.

I'm not sure when late fees will be charged but I know that I will have
to submit teams sometime the last week of June. So it's before then.
301.41991 HMS JamboreeVAXRT::METSCHTue Jun 11 1991 18:3923
In case your U8 (level E) coach has not given you this information:

Meadow Elementary School from 1:30 to 5 on June 15th. The parents

There is a little over 120- 6 and 7 year olds who are playing in the
under eight soccer league this spring.

by all. Some of the field events include farthest kick, longest throw,
fastest dribbler, best goal shooter, best goalie, passing, best header,
and juggling.

Soccer players must wear uniforms. Shin guards are mandatory.

		Bring your soccer ball
		Bring chairs and blankets

Each team is responsible for bringing an item (hot dogs, hamburgers,
paper goods, chips, condiments, drinks). Ice cream truck and team
photographer will be there.
301.5Soccer Camp at end of JuneVAXRT::METSCHTue Jun 11 1991 18:463

from my porch (5 Elmwood St.)
301.6Boys U16 soccer teamVAXRT::METSCHTue Jun 11 1991 18:4716
A team of 12 boys (under 16 level) has been playing indoor soccer in
Milford on Saturday mornings for the past few weeks. This has been
their first exposure to true indoor soccer (we've put some teams in
tournaments with modified indoor soccer rules). They have greatly
improved since their first games. They are learning how to use the
boards and glass to their advantage. Indoor soccer demands a good
command of soccer skills and is an exciting game to watch. Our games
are either 8 or 9 in the morning at the John Smith Sports Center in
Milford. Anyone interested in going send me mail.

These boys were the ones we entered in the Bay State games last year at
MIT and who won silver medals. They came in first place in the Assabet
Valley Soccer League Indoor Tournament a couple of years ago. They will
also be playing in the John Smith outdoor tournament on June 22nd and
23rd (as of last Saturday there were 302 teams registered to play on that
weekend).
301.7Fall 1992 Youth Soccer Registration tomorrowVAXRT::METSCHFri Jun 05 1992 10:185
    Maynard youth soccer registration for the fall 1992 season will be
    held at the Will Dodd Center tomorrow morning (June 6) from 9-12.

    Children who will be in grades K through 8 in the fall are eligible
    to play.
301.82nd Annual HMS Soccer JamboreeVAXRT::METSCHFri Jun 05 1992 10:4229
    The second Hudson/Maynard/Stow (HMS) Under-8 Soccer Jamboree and
    Barbecue will be held at the Greenmeadow School on June 13th from
    9:00 - 1:00.

    The Jamboree will have three major events. The first two occur
    simultaneously:

    1) The Under-8 tournament - Starting at 9:30, 20-minute games will be
       played until noon on three different fields. Each team is
       guauranteed to play 2 games.

    2) The individual skills events - As in last year's Jamboree, there
       will be stations set up with judges at each to keep track of
       individual performance. First through fourth place ribbons will
       be awarded. This year's events are longest kick, longest throw in,
       goalie throw, fastest dribbler, best passer, best shooter on goal,
       best goalie, best dribble and shoot. All players will receive a
       participant award.

    3) The barbeque will be, as last year, for all players, friends, and
       siblings. Each team is responsible for bringing a portion of eats
       for the barbeque. This will begin around noon.

    In addition, representatives from the Caetano Pro Soccer School will
    hold an open clinic for all ages at 1:00. Caetano Pro Soccer School
    has run a summer camp in Maynard for the past few years. This year's
    camp will be held in August instead of June. More details on the
    camp later.
