In last week's Beacon, there was a legal notice about a Realty Trust that was looking for Planning Board Approval to build a retail store in the vacant lot next to the Maynard Shoe Service on Nason Street. (For those old timers, this is the long-gone Sedar and Richmond Feed and Grain Building). With the present glut of vacant stores, including the Cumberland Farms Store on Main Street, it seems to me that there must be a particular intent for this new building. Does anyone know what's going in here? Frank

Being a member of the Maynard Planning Board, the owner of this property told us they just want to develop this property to get some sort of return on their investment. They are planning a 1 story with basement building designed for retail sale. The site would have it's own parking on site according to the towns rules & regulations. The will not be requesting any waivers or variances. | |||||

On Tuesday 2-12-91 the planning board held a public hearing on this proposed building on Nason St.. The building is a one story stucture with a basement, 810 sq ft. of space and off street parking for 4 cars. This propsal is not asking for any waivers or variances. The lot will be landscaped and paved meeting all set back requirements. The building will be a wood frame structure and will look like a house. |
