185.0. "Maynard Cub Scout Pack 130" by USCTR2::ADEMARS () Thu Nov 09 1989 12:31

			    <Scouting For Food>

    Maynard Cub Scout Pack 130 will be participating in the Boy Scouts
    of America's national food drive. The program is called "Scouting
    For Food". This Saturday, November 11th, the Cub Scouts along with
    the Maynard Boy Scouts will be distributing plastic bags on neighbor-
    hood doors. Any non-perishable food you can donate will be greatly
    appreciated.

    The scouts will be collecting the bags on the following Saturday,
    November 18th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you received a bag and want
    to donate food, just hang the bag of food on the outside of your
    door on Nov. 18th. (The scouts have been asked not to knock on the
    doors nor ring the door bells.)

    The scouts will be delivering the bags of food to the Agape Center,
    the local food kitchen. The Agape Center will then handle the
    distribution of the food.

    Last year's program was a tremendous success. Algonquin Council,
    which Maynard scouts are a part of, collected the most food in the
    northeast area (Maine down to North Carolina). We are hoping to
    make it an even bigger success this year.

    With the holidays and cold weather upon us, it's nice to know that
    the local kitchen(s) will have food for those in need.

185.6If you would rather donate money...TOOTER::WALKERThu Nov 16 1989 13:117
The AGAPE organization in Maynard will take money donations. They
have a supper every monday night at the Union Congregation Church right
in maynard, so you would be helping your own neighbors. You can mail
donations to the Church, I don't have AGAPE's address, but could post
it next week. They also take food all year long, as they provide the
people who come with a bag of food to take home. Also, things like
toothpaste, toilet paper, etc. are good things to donate.
