    Has anyone tried the new restaurant on Main Street across from Paul's
    Bakery? The name of it is Lou's Express Cafe, and I know they have subs
    and Italian dishes. The prices on the menu seem real reasonable. 
    
    Any reviews?

    The wife and I had supper there the other night and it was good
    The amount of food give was right for me. The sause was real good.
    The subs were ok. Serve a little slow.
    
    Over all I like it and would go back.

    We stopped there for lunch and we all thought it was pretty good.
    I had a meatball sub which I thought was quite tasty... I concur
    with .1 - the sauce was real good. The people were very nice and
    friendly. I didn't think the service was slow at all, quite average
    compared to the other sub shops in town... but then again, there
    was no one in line ahead of us.
    
    I agree with .1 and definitely plan on going back myself.

    What I liked about Lou's was that there were a couple of items which
    were not on everybody else's menu: chicken cacciatory (sp?) and a pork
    chop dish (which was a special).
    
    My wife really liked the fisherman's platter, though they probably lost
    money on it, so they may not be quite so generous after their first
    week.  Very nicely cooked, though.
    
    We got carry-out, so I can't comment on service.
    All in all, better than average for yet-another-Italian-sub place.
    
    Speaking of which, there are plans for even *another* pizza/sub
    restaurant.  This one is proposed to occupy the empty half of the
    building at Rt 27 and Acton Street.

Huh?

Rte 27 and Acton St. meet twice, once at Christmas Motors, and once 
by Cumberland Farms.  Can't think of a 1/2 empty building at either 
point.

I'm really suprised.  One would think that with the empty stores 
downtown, they would take advantage of a location with more foot 
traffic.

    I thought Lou's was just another sub shop. On the plus side, the dinner
    that I had came with a salad, which was nice, and the sub was on better
    bread than is usually the case. If I were looking for subs or take-out,
    I'd probably go there instead of other places, but I want something
    better than take-out and better than the Copper Kettle. I'm never
    satisfied, I guess.

    Is there really the business for all of these sub shops? Why can't we
    get a real restaurant? Or a bookstore? Or a greengrocer? Anybody want
    to start a business?

    we went there for lunch on friday and wasn't impressed at all. 
    their menu is nice, with fresh calzones and large salads in the
    window display and the place is very clean but the subs are expensive
    and not really worth it.  even though the bread was really fresh
    they put two slices of meat and one paper thin slice of cheese in
    their american and italian subs.  even worse they layered them in
    so when they put the condiments etc in the middle and you squeezed
    the bread shut to take a bite you wore the condiments and lost the
    rest of the onions, peppers etc on your tray.  by the time you took
    three bites there was nothing more left than the bread.  their prices
    for these subs are .75 more than the usual subs around town.  if
    we got next time we will definately be trying something with their
    sauce or the fish, if we go.

      We haven't been impressed with the place at all, single serving
    sizes and high prices to match.  I think I'll stick with T.C. Lando's
    for subs/calzones, and leave seafood to the Quarterdeck.

    I agree, the subs are unimpressive. I got one of their specials the
    other day -- the toasted ravioli. As noted in previous notes, the sauce
    is not bad. However the portion was a little on the small side.
