| Since this is the "question note," I have a question or two...
Has anyone else coming in to Maynard via 117E from 495 seen those triangular
signs painted blue/white/red with a yellow star in the center? They look
something like this:
^
/ \
/ \
/ B \
/-------\
/ *<---\----(yellow, five-pointed star)
/ W \
/-------------\
/ \
/ R \
-------------------
Does anyone have a clue as to what they might represent? Some have a
hand-drawn arrow pointing the direction to travel to get to - where?

| re: signs
I saw one on waltham street over the weekend and happened to see an
Army vehicle drive by at the same time. I assumed that it was some kind
of marker for them, but that was just because of the coincidence of
seeing them together. Any other guesses?

I think this is the right answer. The army was having a show on
military vehicles at the Rod & Gun club over the weekend.

| Thanks for the replies. Now I can sleep at night.
What mostly threw me was the fact that the signs are BLUE/WHITE/RED
instead of the other way around. And the star is yellow, not white
as one might expect.
(BTW, I got the position of the star wrong - it is in the lower third
of the signs.)

| Minor emendation. That wasn't the Army. That was the Military
Vehicle Collector's Club. Their rally was out at the Rod & Gun
over the weekend (19 & 20). These folk collect, repair & restore
surplus military vehicles, from bicycles (literally) up to tanks...
thanks

| Sometime last year I saw a brief notice in the Beacon about a group of
people in Maynard who commemorate the Civil War. I'm not referring to
those who re-enact Civl War battles, but rather something like sons of
the grand army of the republic, or some such.
Anybody acquainted with anyone in this organization, or know of some
way of finding a name or phone number?
