132.0. "Food donations for the holidays" by VAXRT::RUZICH (How many in your quartet?) Wed Nov 30 1988 16:38

The MNPA (Maynard Neighbor Preservation Association) is collecting DEC Turkey
Coupons, nonperishable foodstuffs and toys for Christmas Baskets. These items
will be given to the Maynard Elks and its sister organization the Maynard
Emblem Club for distribution.

The Elks collect names of those in need of a few extras from local ministers,
the Maynard Police and Fire Depts., the Town Nurse and the Beacon Santa. The
Maynard Elks have been distributing holiday baskets for decades. The Elks and
Emblem donate over $15,000 each year to local charities. The Elks Road Race
raises about $7,500 of this money.

If you are able to donate some items, they would be greatly appreciated.
Holidays are a very difficult time for families that can't afford the toys and
food usually considered an important part of the holiday season.

All non-perishable foods, (canned goods, boxed items like stuffing or rice,
protein items like tuna or peanut butter, etc.), new toys and DEC turkey
coupons can be dropped off with Steve Ruzich, MLO 5-5, pole 32C, dtn 223-6112.

Please RSVP on the turkeys! We need approximately 35 turkeys. We will accept
the coupons and pick up the turkeys (tues, 13th for the Mill) to avoid
trecking frozen birds through the halls of the Mill.

Let's help spread some holiday cheer!

Along the same line, is anyone collecting clothing in this area?
I've got coats, scarves, etc. that are wearable, but don't know
    where to donate them.

You can bring clothing to The Community Supper, at the Acton
Congregational Church, in Acton Center (just to the right of the
obelisk coming from maynard. it's across from the fire station).

We will not be distributing clothing wednesday, 21 December, because
Santa Claus comes that day, and it's a little too busy to do anything
else. On other weeks, clothing and groceries can be dropped off anytime
    between about 3pm and 5pm.

There's more information in note 105.0.

By the way, if anyone is looking for a good volunteer opportunity, we
    need volunteers. Send me mail.
