122.0. "Jazz/Folk Festival in Memorial Park" by VAXRT::RUZICH (I remember Clifford) Wed Sep 28 1988 17:05

There will be a Jazz/Folk Festival on Saturday, October 1st in Memorial
Park, Maynard, from 11 AM to 3 PM. The park is on Summer Street, across from
the Fine Arts Theatre. The event is free to the public. The rain location
will be in the Assabet Village Marketplace at the corner of Main and Nason
Streets. (Rain appears to be a good possibility.)

The schedule is as follows:

11:00 Eric Schoenberg, guitarist
12:00 Dr. Heckle & Mr. Jive, a duo combining swing and folk music
 1:00 The Dennis Pearne Trio, a folk-rock trio
 2:00 Workingman's Jazz Band

Note that the Workingman's Jazz Band included DEC employees Bob Johnson,
on guitar, and Steve Ruzich on trombone, among other local luminaries.

This festival is supported in part by the Arts Lottery as administered
by the Maynard Arts Council and was organized by Jazz/Folk Productions,
897-7627.

    Sounds like a great show. Eric Schoenberg is a jaw-dropping
    fingerstyle guitarist, best known for an arrangement of the Beatles'
    "Blackbird" where he plays both the guitar and vocal lines from
    the record simultaneously.
