What ever happened at the town meeting, especially regarding the
Police Station.

I was out of town on business. I read the Beacon when I returned, but
the article concentrated on the financial aspects. At least I didn't
see anyting on the station.

The proposal was removed from the warrant because the selectmen
felt that there was not enough time spent on the alternatives.

The whole police station/library/school admin. building issue will
be raised at a special town meeting - in September I believe.

Here are the results of Tonight's Special Town Meeting:

Article 1 was to accept the final report of the Maynard School
District Planning Committee, and, thereby, discharge the
Committee. Bob Geldart made the presentation which was accepted.

Articles 2 and 3 were considered together, under a modified consent
calendar process, and were voted separately.

Article 2 asked for the acceptance of a salary range for the Town
Administrator position, by providing a base level of $46,000, a
mid-range of $55,000, and a high level of $65,000. This article
passed, 226 yes and 77 no.

Article 3 asked for a transfer of $10,311 from the Sappet legal
settlement, to fund the position of Town Administrator at a rate
of $46,000 for the period of September 3, 1991 to March 3, 1992,
and, contingent upon a performance review of such position
conducted and completed to the satisfaction of the Board of
Selectmen prior to March 3, 1992, at a rate of $50,000 for the
period of March 4, 1992 to June 30, 1992. This article passed,
    186 yes and 119 no.

Article 4 asked for a transfer of $9,688, from the Sappet legal
settlement, to the Library Salary Account to qualify and maintain
state certification for the Maynard Public Library for FY92.
This article passed by a show of hands.
