73.1 | A vanishing breed?? | CIMNET::PIERSON | | Wed Dec 02 1987 08:40 | 7 |
| The salvation army boxes seem to have disappeared. I think they
were having trouble getting them picked up. The nearest similar
that comes to mind is an "attended pick up station" in the
Finast lot in Concord. Detail directions if you want them...
thanks

73.2 | Star Mkt. in Sudbury | REGENT::POWERS | | Wed Dec 02 1987 09:09 | 5 |
| Goodwill has a manned collection station in the parking lot at the Star Market
on Rt. 20 in Sudbury. Manned stations are good places for getting receipts
for tax purposes.

Writing-off donated clothing on your tax return?
read: The only true giver is an anonymous one.

73.4 | A place for old clothes | CAMPER::LOMICKAJ | Jeff Lomicka | Wed Dec 02 1987 11:16 | 5 |
| The South Action Congregational Church recycles old clothing to the needy.
They collect stuff every Wednesday night, around 6:00. The church is located
on school street near the intersection with Rt. 27, just north of the railroad
tracks and very close to the South Action commuter rail stop. They are
across the street from the South Action fire department.

Very well, if you prefer...
Manned stations are good places for making sure your donations
are secured against ravages of weather and nesting animals
before they can be put to the application of the betterment of mankind.

73.6 | Hardly semantics | BETSY::WATSON | No_Mad | Thu Dec 03 1987 11:39 | 11 |
| Tom], sorry if I sounded a tad curt, but you said nothing in .2 about "Manned
stations are good places for making sure your donations are secured against
ravages of weather and nesting animals before they can be put to the
application of the betterment of mankind."
What you did say in .2 was, "Manned stations are good places for getting
receipts for tax purposes."
One of us is losing it. My advice, don't fight it.

73.7 | Donate Clothes | STING::HAMILTON | | Wed Dec 16 1987 09:04 | 7 |
| There is a church in Acton that serves a free hot meal once a week,
and also distributes clothes to whoever needs them. People from
the Methodist church here in Maynard, corner of Main and Summer,
volunteer over there and will take any clothing donations with them
when they go. I believe it's Wednesday evening. There is always
someone at the church daily from 12-1:30.

73.8 | SALVATION ARMY IN HUDSON! | CSSE::CARVER | | Wed Jun 29 1988 15:27 | 24 |
| This week I had learned there is a huge Salvation Army Thrift Shop
located on Hudson Main Street across from Hudson Savings Bank.
I just dropped off some clothes at lunchtime today. They will accept
clothes, household items (that work and are in good condition) and
any other miscellaneous items. The shop has no phone, but its hours
are 8:30-4:30 p.m. every day except Sunday. They will also provide
you with a receipt for tax purposes.
The reason for the collection boxes being removed is that people
were dumping trash in them and these agencies decided that it's
not worth going through trash to get clothing (which are usually
ruined at that point from the smell, rot and animals that habitate
there.
This store will not accept furniture or large household items.
You can call the main warehouse in Worcester and they will schedule
a time to pick up the items. You must have at least 5 items to
be picked up in order for them to come out. Their number in Worcester
is (617) 799-0528.
Hope this is helpful. As an FYI, the Salvation Army Thrift Shop
in Hudson has been there approximately 4-5 years.
