47.0. "MAYNARD FUTURES" by NATASH::WEIGL (Turboferrets - racing for answers) Thu Feb 12 1987 17:53
Does anyone have more information on what's happening to downtown
Maynard? There were a bunch of rumors/plans discussed in note 9
in this conference, but so far, I'm still confused about what to
expect.
The reason I'm asking is that yesterday at lunch, I got a very nasty
brush-off from one of Maynard's finest, when trying to inquire about
all the "no parking" signs that have sprung up on Main and Nason.
His response was "good day, sir" - and continued to write tickets
for parking violations. Doesn't give me the warm-fuzzies as a
taxpayer...
So, what's the scoop on this little town? Destined to become a
metropolis with many lights, one-way streets and no planned future?

| Supposedly they are tearing up everything, installing traffic lights
and making one-way streets. This is all supposed to be completed
sometime in 88' I think. As usual in Maynard - plans aren't going
according to schedule and they fell behind a long time ago on the
"project".
The no parking signs could have been for snow removal although it
seems that most of the snow has been removed. As for the officer
mentioned - he's known for being "that way". I'm sure lots of
people reading this file know who the officer is too. So, I won't
say too much except that maybe he's sick of writing parking tickets
after all these years!
