Arthur, maybe a slightly larger stick with Sophos and/or Microsoft system
agent folks is over due? This has been going on for over 6 months now,
and the problem is getting worse, not better!
Can we (individual DEC users) contact Sophos, or does the contact go
through you organization?
thanks,
Bruce

| Bruce,
You mentioned that the problem is getting
worse. This is interesting because I only receive this error
every now and then. Are you running anything else along
with System Agent and Sweep?
Right now, Sophos is working with Office 97 file
formats because as you may already know, the macro
language is more powerful.
However, I will bring this up again when I next
call the vendor.
Regards,
Arthur

444.23 | one problem is fixed my machines at 2.95 ! ...but I suspect there is now a new issue | FIEVEL::FILGATE | Bruce Filgate SHR3-2/W4 237-6452 | Wed Mar 12 1997 10:21 | 14 |
|
I have upgraded 4 machines to 2.95, the problem is gone on these machines!
Some of the target machines are running Windows 95, some are at 950A, one
is at 950B, none of them hang for the .0 reason now.
Unfortunately, the 950B Windows 95 with FAT32 appears incompatable with
this build of Sweep, generating the error
`Could not read Drive C: Sector 0',
so Sweep95 does not auto terminate on this particular machine. Sweep95
version 2.94 also exhibits this problem.

Bruce,
That's good news!
Sweep for Windows 95 does not have FAT32 capabilities
yet. However, it can still be used to scan the files on the
hard drive, Sweep will just think of the HD as being a
network drive.

Arthur

444.25 | On FAT32 -i -auto is insufficient to allow auto termination due to the error. | FIEVEL::FILGATE | Bruce Filgate SHR3-2/W4 237-6452 | Mon Mar 17 1997 16:55 | 10 |
|
While I suspect it will take a couple months, what is Sophos
guessing at to fix the problem with FAT32 no termination?
Or (...and I DO believe in Santa!) is there a command line switch
that will let Sweep ignore sector 0? (I suspect that the only reason
that sweep does not shutdown and get off the screen is because of the
posted error, no error => clean auto termination.)

Bruce,
The latest word from Sophos is to have FAT32 capabilities in 2.97
(May). Stay tuned!

Arthur
