244.0. "looking for LAN Manager Sessions, coming up empty" by TOHOPE::WSA028::DOWNING_L () Tue Apr 08 1997 21:58

I have a customer with PATHWORKS 5.0E on his Server, Version 6.02 ECO2
on his Windows client.

He says that Manageworks is version 2.2.003, and that Workstation Manager is
version 1.20.087.

The clients have DECnet installed as their network transport.

From VMS, at DCL, the NET SESSION command shows between 50 and 100 computers.

Using Manageworks, he goes to
LAN Manager Domains
locates his Server and highlights it
    Actions-Properties
     view Options--sessions and its empty.

Is there something that needs to be done to populate this?

This time, we tried it from the Standalone ServerWORKS product.

The problem is restated. Previously, we were concerned that a single Server
would not show you the list of sessions. The customer is really more interested
in seeing all of the users in the Domain.

View or Modify: Users in the Domain

When the Domain has a Windows NT server as the PDC, we get
LAN Manager Error, Error Number 2142, Description:Help not available.
The Username Workstation and Logon Time fields are blank.

When the Domain has a PATHWORKS for OpenVMS V5.0E PDC, there is no LAN Manager
error, but the Username, Workstation and Logon Time fields are still blank.

When the Domain has a field test PATHWORKS for OpenVMS V6.0-000-BL7 server,
the error is: LAN Manager Error 5, Description: You do not have access to this
file. The file may be marked read-only, or it may be part of a shared resource
such as a folder, a named pipe, a queue, or a semaphore. You can use the ATTRIB
command to change the read-only attribute, or try again later when the file may
be available.

What 'file' are they looking for?

Is this function supposed to work?

If so, what are the criteria?

    Which Servers support it?
