Hi, I need some infos about the VGA Console of RSM 1.1. I have read from User's Guide that to use my management station as remote console, the server's VGA frame buffer must be readable from the EISA bus. To do that I suppose that the only way is have installed an ISA Vga card on the server (topic 171). From the User's Guide I read that the Remote Console feauture works when the server is in thext mode only. Graphic mode are not supported. I have how server a ZX6000 with an embedded S3 vga. Questions: 1) I must have another ISA Vga card to use the Remote Console ? 2) There's a tested Vga card in this case ? 3) Isn't there any way to use the Remote Vga Console to logon in the server machine? Thanks Gabriele

The recommended ISA VGA for ZX 6000 is Diamond Stealth. It should work with most ISA VGA cards with the exception of ATI-VGA Wonder+. Since RSM is an out-of-band Emergency Remote Recovery Solution, that resolves the diagnosis and recovery of Servers, the text mode takes care of the system until the OS is operational in the case of NT or OS2 or any windows application. The Server is in text mode when coming up, when running DOS applications, Netware and SCO console that is not in ODT's window. This solves the problem of diagnosing most of the cases of why the system is hung or needs to be reconfigured etc. If you wan't to use graphics console you can consider products like PC-Anywhere or REACHOUT that work when the OS is functioning.
