I have a customer who uses PATHWORKS's ManageWORKS v1.1.004 to manage his PW/OSF server. He uses it to create/delete accounts. He is running PW/OSF v5.0C and Digital UNIX v3.2. Question: From where does ManageWORKS get the UID when he creates a new account? We thought it might take the largest available number, but the customer states that it does not. Any thoughts? Thank you. Jennifer Majewski DTN 343-1820

ManageWORKS asks the PATHWORKS server to create the account. Since Unix UIDs are not known to LAN Manager, we don't really know what they are. I would hope the PATHWORKS server would create a non-priv.ed account, so it would have to have a user interface to set policy (I speculate here). |
