    What is the official status for DMQ Vms ECO kits and especially the
    # 3248 ? Do you think for heavy MRS use that this ECO 3248 might be 
    preventively applied?

    3248 fixes problems with an old message recovery protocol that is
    used to talk with VMS versions older than DECmessageQ for OpenVMS V3.0.
    It deals with loss of internal messages on systems that are
    underconfigured and have severe resource constraints. 
    
    The patch needs to be applied to the v2.x systems as well as to V3.x 
    systems. We recommend an upgrade of any v2.x system to v3.2B, in which 
    case the patch is not needed. This patch should not be necessary for 
    V3.x systems that communicate with V3.x systems.
