2854.0. "PAMS-E-RESRCFAIL error make DMQ not running" by TPOVC::HCLIN () Mon Apr 21 1997 03:43
Hello,
We have installed the DMQ V3.2 to Digital UNIX V3.2F,
but every 9th day DMQ will get PAMS-E-RESRCFAIL and today
is the 4th times happen. The timing is always on 4:30 AM.
It seems relative to crontabs, Digital UNIX remove /var/tmp
at that time; but after last times I already mark that statement
as comment, today 4:30 AM DMQ still got the PAMS-E-RESRCFAIL
again. We are using DMQ on IC FAB, we can't shutdown/restart DMQ
every time when this error happen.
May I ask DMQ will remove /var/tmp/dmq/... files or some files
let dmqmonc show out dmq is not starting, but the total 6 processes
dmqbcp, dmqgcp, dmqqe and 3 dmqld's are still in system.
Does somebody has this experience ?
Thanks, hc

when you commented out the crontab line did you tell cron
that there was a new crontab file so it could re-read the
file and omit the entry you commented out ? rebooting has
the same effective result. if you don't do this then
cron is using the old file. it is on the man page for
cron or crontab (i forget which)

I already did it.
Because some files in /var/tmp still in there did not
delete by cron.
thanks, hc

you updated the crontab and told cron to read the new file
and you still have the problem ? i assure you that we do
nothing special at 4:30 AM every few days. it has to be
cron.
