2794.0. "VAX to VAX via LU62 ?" by TAVENG::ZVI () Sun Mar 02 1997 08:49

    Hello,

    We are at stage of planning replacing an IBM mainframe with Digital Alpha.
    Our customer has a number VAX machines which connect to an IBM
    via specially developed LU62 "speaking" routines.
    Of course IBM acts as a server in this scenario. At first stage we would
    like to leave the customer's VAX machines unchanged, which means
    that an Alpha server would have to act as an LU62 server.
    Is it possible ?

    In a long range we will replace this LU62 protocol with a DMQ
    services.

    Regards
    -Zvi Kamer

The Alpha machine can communicate using lu62 to the IBM. This is don with the
DmQ LU62 services. Other machines can use the Dmq LU62 server on the Alpha to
route LU62 messages to the IBM. The Alpha cannot be the endpoint of the LU62
messages sent from the other Vaxs. There muts be a IBM machine acting as a peer
in the communications.

I hope this answers your questions.
