907.0. "Does X25 Relay work like a Connector ?" by ZPOVC::COLINTONG () Wed Jun 04 1997 14:19
Hi,
In the old VAX time, the VAX P.S.I system can act as a multihost
system, i.e. directly communicate with X25 with its sync controller and
act as a connector node to allow P.S.I Access nodes in the network
to access the X25 network.
User Requirement: One Alpha/OVMS and One Alpha/DUX, they want both
systems to access SWIFT ( a finanical service ) via the X25 network.
Configuration: Alpha/OVMS with synchronous controller and X.25 for
OVMA/AXP
Alpha/DUX with synchronous controller and WAN support
for Digital UNIX
Questions:
If they only have one X25 access point, can they use DUX
together with X.25 Relay functionality to connect both
systems to the X.25 network. This should be operated
exactly like old VAX P.S.I
I am quite new to the X.25 Relay function. Can someone explain it and
does it operate like a Connector Node in VAX P.S.I ( except that PSI is
using GAP and Relay is using LLC2 ).
Thanks for any reply.
