WAN Support for Digital UNIX Systems
March, 1997
COVER LETTER
Operating System: Digital UNIX, V4.0x
Software Version: T3.0-4
IMPORTANT NOTE ON INSTALLATION - YOU MUST REBOOT
------------------------------------------------
To install WAN Support T3.0-4, you must first completely remove the
previous version of the kit, and *most* importantly, you must then
reboot your system. This procedure will remove all the installed
files as well as clear the running kernel of older subsystems.
To completely remove the old version of the kit, you may use the
following procedure:
1. Determine the subsets installed which pertain to the X.25 kit.
2. Issue setld -d <subset ...>
3. Reboot
4. Install WAN Support T3.0-4
REMOVING OLD SUBSETS
--------------------
For power users, the following command line will remove all subsets
pertaining to X.25. Be careful, that if you don't wish to remove any
DECnet subsets, then you should remove the string "^DNA|" from the
line below.
# setld -d `setld -i | grep installed |
awk '/^DNA|^CTA|^ISD|^WDA|^XXA|^ZZA/ {printf ("%s ", $1)}'`
NOTE: This command is issued on one line. It is split here for convenience.
To verify all desired subsets have been removed, you should review the
list by issuing:
# setld -i | grep installed
NOW REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM
INSTALLING WAN Support T3.0-4
-----------------------------
Please follow this procedure:
1. Extract the kit from the tar file
2. Set the current directory to the location where the kit has
been unpacked, or you may use RIS.
3. Install the kit, using 'setld -l'
A typescript of the installation is attached to the cover letter shipped
with the kit. The list of subsets which are presented for installation
may be different on various systems. This typescript was take from an
installation on a DEC3000 machine.
DOCUMENTATION
=============
WAN Support T3.0-4 is a port of the WAN Support V2.0a product. The
significant change in this release is the support of dynamically
loadable subsystems. Therefore the documentation from the V2.0a kit
is still applicable to this release. You can obtain the V2.0a
documentation from the distribution CD.
