1236.0. "A Pyromaniac's Love Story" by BUSY::SLAB (Wanted: a life. Will pay top dollar.) Sun Apr 13 1997 13:21
John Leguizamo, William Baldwin, Erika Eleniak [and others].
John is a pastry chef in a local bakery, and he is in love with
a waitress working across the street [not Erika]. She wants to
travel and see some of the world, but he's content staying where
he is ... also, he has no money to travel even if he wants to.
But, in order not to lose her, he tells her that he'll ask his
boss to make him a manager at the bakery so he can save the
money faster. The day he's supposed to ask him, he finds out
that his boss apparently isn't making as much money as he'd like
to and would love for John to set a fire in the bakery to burn
it down so that the insurance money can be collected. But John
says he won't/can't do it and makes the boss promise that he
won't do it either.
But it burns down that night anyways.
I don't want to give too much away, so I'll stop here.
I'd classify it as a "sort of black" romantic comedy, and it
was pretty good.

1236.1 | Reason number 61# It was in theaters for only 3 days. | POLAR::TYSICK | Prying Open my Third Eye | Mon Apr 14 1997 10:07 | 7 |
| Kinda reminds me of that episode of CHEERS, where Norm was to burn down
the "Hungry Hefer" for Sid.
I havne't watched the previews for this one yet...John better hope it
does better than "The Pest".

1236.2 | TERRIBLE MOVIE | PCBUOA::CHENARD | | Mon Apr 14 1997 10:39 | 5 |
| I rented this movie and still mad that I had to pay $3.00 for this one
(thank God I didn't see it at the theater). This was the worst movie
I have ever seen and I have seen some winners over the years.
