1231.0. "The Devil's Own" by POLAR::TYSICK (Chasing the tail of Dogma) Mon Mar 31 1997 10:03

This one star Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt. It's called "The
Devil's Own" and I wasn't to pleased with it. I thought the story
was weak and at most times, very uninteresting. At times it would
begin to lead you somewhere...but it would end up nowhere. The acting
was good though, but I just expected more from a Ford & Pitt combo.

Rumors have it that there were problems with the story even in
production and no one could "work" with it. And they didn't.

    	2.2 outta 5

I'll put the story behind form feeders,

A member of the IRA (Pitt) named Frankie "The Angle" is wanted by
the Irish government, so he takes off to lie low in the USA. He is put up
by a Police Officer (Ford) in his home with his whole family. While in
the states, Frankie attempts to buy some type of ground to air missle's
and when he can't make the payment on time, the Head Honcho of the deal
(Treat Williams) decides to rough up Frankie at the cops house, thus
involving everybody. Tom (Ford) can't let this slide now that he knows
who Frankie really is. And he tries to arrest him...of course things
    don't go according to plan.

There was also supposedly some trouble between Ford & Pitt.
I guess Pitt came out several weeks ago and said how difficult
Ford was to work with and how unpleasant this whole experience
    was for him (Pitt).

He basically bad-mouthed his movie that had yet to open...something
    you just don't do!!

From what I heard at the time - Pitt was saying the script ended up
being entirely different than what he signed up to do. That it was
being worked on and changed throughout the entire filming. His input
didn't have much weight (maybe this is why he didn't like it). He
thought the final product was terrible and don't bother wasting your
    money to see it.

Most of the movie reviewers/ET types were making as much of this story
    as the movie coming out.

Not sure where I heard it from but also heard that Ford gave Pitt a
hard time about his Irish accent - ford said it was terrible.
