| I didn't see the original, but both my son and I enjoyed the Homeward
Bound films enormously, as well as Angels in the Outfield, and a Kid in
King Arthur's Court.

Also Tom and Huck, though there is one scene which we always fast
forward through if our 2-year-old is watching.
Wizard of Oz is almost too obvious to mention, but I never tire of it.
Also fun is Pirates of Penzance.

| My four year old daughter and five year old son both love HOME ALONE 1
and HOME ALONE 2. I believe they liked the second one even more than
the first. Another one they liked, but I can't remember the title as
we had only rented it, is a story about a young boy who's father
works for some large hotel who meets and saves an orangutan.
They did not enjoy Free Willy as it dragged.

| I second the votes for Fly Away Home (its in the rental places
right now) and Secret of Roan Innish.
My kids (and I) loved Alaska thats also out right now.
We also all love many of the old Musicals....Oklahoma, South Pacific, etc.
Also Annie and Wizard of Oz

| My three year old didn't care too much for Alaska. It dragged a bit
for him (the polar bear was the only interesting thing for him) but we
enjoyed it because of the scenery.

| My children love Fantasia which I didn't mention as the base noter
requested films that are NOT animated. I also didn't mention Mary
Poppins, and Bednobs & Broomsticks as the films are partly animated.
I can't remember if Dr. Doolittle is also partly animated.
We purchased "Matilda" and watched it Friday night. The whole family
liked it but I can see that the "Home Alone's" will still be their
favourite with all the action and traps that are set up to catch
Harry and Marvin.

| There's a Cinderella movie that came out in the 60s with real actors.
It was great. I found it at Blockbuster in the family section.
It's much better than the animated Disney version. It was my
favorite film when I was young.

Mine, too. If we're thinking of the same one, it starts Leslie Anne
Warren as Cinderella, and Stuart Damon (Alan Quartermaine in Generl
Hospital) as the prince. A friend of mine gave me the video a couple of
years ago. Unfortunately, it hasn't aged well.

| No one mentioned "Toy Story" yet? Even adults will like that one.
I agree with the Wallace & Grommit suggestion. Also, how about "James and the
Giant Peach" (and possibly "Nightmare Before Christmas")?
I got my niece "Babe" and "Homeward Bound 2" as gifts (she likes animals). She
also has "Black Beauty" and a few of the recent Disney "classics".

| Here's a quick attempt at some of the elements in "The Princess Bride":
Peter Falk as the modern-day grandfather reading the *book*
_The_Princess_Bride_ to his grandson (Fred Savage, at around age 8).
A beautiful princess, a simple farm lad, swordfights, magic, poison,
revenge, a pirate, a giant, quicksand, an evil prince, True Love, and
the funniest clergyman in film history (IMNSHO).
All this, and directed by Rob Reiner too!

| Off the top of my head:
"The Secret Garden" - either produced or directed by Francis Ford Coppolla.
Probably available in your local library. Excellent movie. Very good child
actors. Not filled with cutesy performances ala Macaulay Culkin.
"Willow" - A Ron Howard movie
"Walkabout" an Australian movie made in the early '70s. Stars Jenny Agutter of
Logan's Run and Equus fame.
"Careful He Might Hear You", another Australian drama. Made in the early '80s.

| Another vote for The Never Ending Story. My son is now 23 and still
remembers the first time we watched it. It was such an uplifting
