1210.0. "Liar Liar" by POLAR::TYSICK (PACKERS RULE!!!) Tue Jan 28 1997 09:03

Alright people, get ready to bash!

Jim Carrey is comin' out with another one called "Liar Liar" and the
only thing I know about it is...

A little boy wishes his father (Jim) would tell the truth for one
whole day. The clips I saw were quite funny...with barely any facial
    contortions! [^;=

Kind of a simple story line. I think it'll be an amusing film...but
not even close to Ace Ventura : Pet Detective...then again...not much is.
    IMHO.

This movie did look interesting. Even if it is bad - it still
has to be better than the Cable Guy.

[From the "Films in the Works" page of Boxoffice Online (www.boxoff.com)]

"LIAR LIAR" - Jim Carrey ("Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls") will star in this
comedy about a compulsive liar who must refrain from fibbing for 24 hours in
compliance with his son's birthday wish. The comedy was scripted by Lowell Ganz
& Babaloo Mandel ("City Slickers") and Paul Guay & and Stephen Mazur ("The
Little Rascals"). (Universal)

Took this one in last night and really liked it. (Surprise surprise)

The story was thin, but cute. Jim was, well, Jim. Alot of scenes
had me grabbing me stomach and just roaring out loud.

    Possible spoiler:

I like the part where his son asks him about the old question of "If
you make a face, will it stay frozen like that." and Jim character
replies, "No...actually some people make a good living by doin' that."

Anyway, it's better than the past stuff but still not as good as
    AV:PD.

    	3.3 outta 5

?? Aren't his "antics" the whole basis of the movie?

I to loved the movie. and I am a Jim Carey *Hater* I can't stand this
man - but this movie was super! My sides are still splitting after
seeing this movie. It's not dumb like all this others, this has a
story (a small one) but still a story. I saw Jim as a crossed between
    Dick VanDyke and Jerry Lewis.

Ps. I loved the chase scean :-)

This theme is also the basis of a series of skits on Saturday Night
Live called "The Honest Planet" -- a place where everyone tells the
truth at all times. As has been said, it's a general enough theme that
one can't say it's "stolen", particularly if the treatment is fresh.
