Rented Othello (1995 version) this weekend. It was GREAT! Fishburne made an excellent Othello. Branagh did a completely despicable Iago. Recommended viewing. My kids (13 & 14) are just now getting into Shakespeare (had only seen Henry V; Branagh's and Olivier's). Their comment after seeing Othello: "Iago in Aladdin wasn't nearly as bad as this Iago. The bird got a bad deal in names." Another reason to rent the movie. There is a 12-minute trailer for Branagh's up and coming release of Hamlet (sometime in 1997; although the imdb has a sparse 1996 listing for it). I've got to find a city that will run this (Othello never made it to po-dunk Dayton; Immortal Beloved ran all of 3 days here at the artsy theater). 70mm. Grandiose production.
